Our sunny day for Antwerp did not materialize and so we decided to stay in town and go to a few museums and visit the Central train station area instead.
There should be some better weather later in the week. We took our first tram ride to the Central station and picked up our Museum passes. We stopped to take K’s picture next to the Museum of Sex (seriously, right next door to the tourist office).
Then walked to breakfast along some of the canals. We are outside under an awning, even though it was raining and had a very nice big English breakfast.
Then we took the tram back and went to the Rijks Museum which houses the Dutch collection of art ranging from the 1100s to modern times. J-scored herself some impressionism magnets.
Then we visited the Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art. The collection boosted a few Monets and Van Goghs but almost half the museum was closed off and they were not on display, only one Van Gogh was available to see and K really did not like the big fat scowling green lady it depicted nor the rest of the museum. Let’s just say K tried Modern Art and then promptly spit it right back out.
Then we went to dinner and afterward visited the museum square which is holding an exhibition of horse racing, jumping and polo. Yesterday when we visited they had a four white horse chariot team (10 year world champions) running around the small arena weaving and dodging as EDM played it was quite entertaining.
Todayafter dinner when we visited they had a polo match going on and we could watch through the stabling area for the horses it was cool to briefly watch our first polo match especially for free.
