Fall colors of Eikando…

Even the walkway up was colorful…

One of the busiest places we’ve been in kyoto. Was Eikando temple.

Lots of reds around the lake…

This is a very large temple with a central complex that wraps around several gardens and has various levels.

View from inside looking out…

It is renown for its fall colors, amd for good reason. Fall colors amd picture taking here in kyoto is like black Friday at walmart though.

Rock garden under maples…

I walked through the central temple complex and had a fantastic view of an internal lake ringed with some very old and twisty maples.

Super twisty maple…

The temple palace was much larger than any we had been in before and had a service underway in a large open hall as I walked by. Up some stairs and across some covered brodges let you see down onto the floor of the temple valley.

Looking out over rooftops…

I could write more but really uoure here for the pictures and the amazing fall colors. When I read the eikando was at peak color they were certainly right!

Bridge to a shrine on the mini island in the mini lake…

More roofs…
