Well here we are in Tokyo. It took a bit of effort to get everything we needed from the airport. We had purchased a pocket Wi-Fi thingy that allow unlimited data use. Which has been working splendidly until it ran out of electricity. But picking it up required us to cross the entire airport. So a long walk.
Then we tried to exchange our Japanese rail pass vouchers which had a very long line. Since we dont need those for a couple more days the lady suggested not waiting in the long line. We agreed and left. Then a train ticket to Uneo station. And then trying to buy a transit card. But they don’t take credit cards in the machine….. And my currency bills were too large (since I’m a baller and all) so in to buy something cheap. Got the smaller bills and bought transit cards. Then a subway ride to Ginza. I grabbed a quick dinner of delicious ramen and then we went to bed.
Next day (or 7 hours behind tomorrow for you Seattle folks) we had breakfast in a nearby office tower basement (yum) and then went to see a special van Gogh exhibit at the Uneo Royal Museum.
No pictures allowed. We saw a few from our prior trips but many were new.
Next we went to Asakusa which has a temple and a 5 story pagoda with some giant wind chimes on top. The streets were lined with vendors of all types of things.
Grabbed a sushi lunch and then hit maruzen department store for a few things on the way back to Ginza. Felt like a bit of a whirlwind.
Tired though we didn’t walk all that much. I’m having some adjustment issues not being able to determine exactly what to eat (staring at a few pictures and a bunch of symbols I don’t understand) but we’re getting around and having a great time regardless.
