We are staying in Killarney for 3 nights and are a bit put off by how touristy it is.
Never the less the Lakes of Killarney await, around the Ring of Kerry we go! Our first stop was Ross Castle.
Perched on the lake, it has been restored using only period techniques (it has a roof!) and period furniture brought in. We learned alot about its construction and history while on the tour.
Next stop the Torc waterfalls after a brief hike. Very beautiful.
We did the tour and lunch at
Muckross House & Gardens (also on the lake.
Stumbled upon the Muckross Friary which had 3 intact levels, unusual for a ruin and a huge, very old yew growing right out of the center. So cool!
Back in town (Killarney) we hit St. Canise Cathedral and admired the stain glass windows.
